These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of Retold (the "App"), a short-form historical drama mini app operated by Cupcakes Holdings Ltd, a company registered in Israel at Menachem Begin 144, Tel Aviv, Israel ("Retold", "we", "us").
By opening or using the App, or by joining our waitlist on this website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
Retold publishes short-form episodic video series — dramatizations and documentary-style retellings of historical events. The App runs inside TikTok as a mini app. Your use of TikTok itself is governed by TikTok's own terms and policies, not these Terms.
You access the App through your TikTok account. We do not issue separate passwords. You are responsible for activity that takes place through your TikTok account while using the App. If you believe your account has been used without your permission, contact us at contact@retold-story.app.
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to stream and view content in the App for your own non-commercial use. You may not:
Retold's series are dramatized retellings. We research the events we depict, but episodes compress timelines, combine or invent minor characters, and reconstruct dialogue that was not recorded. Episodes are made for entertainment and general interest. They are not academic sources, and should not be relied on as authoritative accounts of any person, community or event. Where a series makes a contested or disputed claim, we aim to say so in the episode or its notes.
If you submit your email address on this website, we will use it to tell you when Retold launches and to send occasional updates about the app before then. You can unsubscribe from any message we send, or ask us to remove you at any time by writing to contact@retold-story.app. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle that address.
All series, episodes, artwork, scripts, music, trademarks and software in the App and on this website are owned by Retold or licensed to us, and are protected by copyright and other laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership to you.
If you believe content in the App infringes your rights, send a notice to contact@retold-story.app that identifies the work, identifies the material in the App, gives your contact details, and states that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorised. We investigate every notice we receive and remove or restrict infringing material where a notice is substantiated.
Where the App allows comments, ratings or other user submissions, you must not post content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, violent, deceptive, spam, or that infringes anyone's rights. We may remove submissions and restrict accounts that break this rule. By posting a submission you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host and display it within the App.
We may add, change, suspend or remove series, features, this website or the App itself at any time. We may also change these Terms; when we do, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for material changes, give notice in the App before they take effect. Continuing to use the App after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if we are required to by law or by TikTok, or if we discontinue the App. You may stop using the App at any time. Sections 8, 12, 13 and 15 survive termination.
The App and this website are provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free or that any particular series will remain available.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any right you have that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of your country, including consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law and equivalent legislation elsewhere.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Retold will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the App is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 50.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Retold and its officers, employees and contractors from claims, damages and reasonable legal costs arising out of your misuse of the App, your breach of these Terms, or your infringement of a third party's rights.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Israel, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be brought exclusively in the courts of Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel. If you are a consumer resident in a country whose law gives you the right to bring proceedings locally, that right is unaffected.
